  • Dr. Andrew "AJ"
    Dr. Andrew "AJ" Scherer
    Sports & Auto Injury Specialist

    Beaverton chiropractor, Dr. AJ Scherer studied exercise science at the Western Washington University prior to attending the New York Chiropractic College where he earned his Doctorate.

    He has completed the Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician® course, and is a Certified Graston Technique® Practitioner. Additionally, he is certified with the Motion Palpation Institute aiding in his excellence in chiropractic care and patient management.

    While in New York, Dr. Scherer was a member of the Sports Science and Human Performance club. There he gained experience by treating hundreds of professional and amateur athletes at many athletic events.

    Personal Philosophy:

    Dr. Scherer views chiropractic treatment as a way to give back to the Beaverton and Portland community. At age 14 he severely injured his neck while playing football. He was unable to move his right arm for three weeks. Through chiropractic care his pain was significantly decreased and function of his arm was fully restored within just a few months.

    Inspired by his recovery, Dr. Scherer believes he can to relate to his patients who are in pain. Through his personal experience, he understands the frustration of an injury and the healing transformation of chiropractic care. Dr. Scherer utilizes an interdisciplinary treatment approach which views patients as individuals that deserve the best care possible. If he is unable to help a patient within his scope of care, he will refer to another clinician or service which may provide greater benefit.

    Interests:

    Dr. Scherer is a fitness buff who loves a challenge. He has taken an interest in CrossFit training and finds it an excellent way to keep in shape. An Eagle Scout, he enjoys the good Beaverton and Portland traditions of hiking, camping and other seasonal activities.

    Dr. Scherer has served as a chiropractor in the Beaverton and Portland area with distinction since 2011, and became co-owner of Back In Motion Chiropractic & Sports Rehab Clinic in 2014.

    Beaverton chiropractor, Dr. Adam Meisenhelder is a sports chiropractor serving the Beaverton and Portland area who integrates soft-tissue therapy, joint manipulation, functional rehab and corrective exercise techniques when treating patients. He utilizes modern, evidence-based diagnostic procedures and treatment techniques to restore and maintain optimal functional biomechanics and incorporates therapeutic exercise and technique training to ensure proper joint stability and sport-specific movement patterns. His goal is to get you back pursuing your passions while giving you the tools and education to minimize injury risk and perform at your highest level.

    Dr. Meisenhelder has worked with athletes of all levels, from professional to weekend warrior. In addition to his clinic hours he loves working events in the field which gives him front-line perspective on the injury/recovery cycle, and greatly aids his clinical decision-making and case management.

    Specialized Training:

    Dr. Meisenhelder received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree with honors from Palmer College of Chiropractic West and completed a clinical rotation with the Veterans Administration hospital. He has completed the Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician course, and is an FRC Mobility Specialist, USA Track & Field Coach, and USA Rugby Coach. He has developed specialized skills in the assessment and treatment of runners and endurance athletes, including OptoGait computerized movement assessment, the Functional Movement Screen (FMS), and various soft-tissue techniques and physical therapy modalities.

    As a chiropractor in Beaverton, Dr. Meisenhelder has served as the team physician for the Beaverton Lady Barbarians Rugby Club and assistant coach for the Southridge High School Track & Field team in Beaverton. He is actively involved in the sports community, working as a physician at various sporting events in the Portland area and nationally. Most recently he was a member of the medical team for the 2014 USA Track & Field National Championships in Sacramento, California.

    Personal Philosophy:

    'I have a deep passion for sports and healthcare which I combine in the clinic to inspire my patients to achieve a lifetime of healthy, active living.'

    Outside the clinic, Dr. Meisenhelder enjoys wood working, running, weight lifting, mountain biking, golf, and any opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Beaverton and Portland outdoors.

    Dr. Meisenhelder has served as a chiropractor in the  Beaverton and Portland area with distinction since 2012 and became co-owner of Back In Motion Chiropractic & Sports Rehab Clinic in 2014. 

  • Donica Schmidt
    Donica Schmidt

    Attracted to dance from a young age, Donica always had a passion to move. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance at California State University, Long Beach, where her education was largely in body mechanics and healthy movement performance. She was introduced to yoga at age 22 and was instantly hooked. Donica was certified and teaching that same year. Her interest in eastern philosophy was piqued, but it was her mom's story that led her to acupuncture. At that time, her mom had been living with chronic pain for the greater part of her life and western medication was not working anymore. Luckily a friend referred her mother to an acupuncturist who gave her sustainable improvement and changed the quality of her life forever. Donica had to know more about this ancient medicine.

    In 2015, Donica received a Master of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine including the study of qi gong, meridian theory, herbs, cupping, tuina massage, guasha, and nutrition. She holds the intention to care for her community and assist them to pain-free living through education and treatment of the subtle body. A forever student, Donica has also spent time learning Thai Yoga Massage, the MELT Method, Qi Gong, and trauma-informed yoga with Living Yoga.

    Teaching assistant at Oregon School of Massage (assisted students with and explained massage techniques, location of muscles and skeletal landmarks).

    Member of A.M.T.A. (American Massage Technicians Association) since 1998

    Member of Complimentary Health Care Plans (CHP) since 2001

    Experience with Excellence:

    Before coming to Back In Motion, Michael worked independently out of his home office and at the Aveda concept salon at the Embassy Suites. Michael was trained in all European Spa Treatments including herbal wraps, water massage, and much more.

    Michael serves the Beaverton and Portland area specializing in:

      • Sports Massage
      • Swedish Massage

    Michael treats each person as an individual and realizes that not everyone will respond to the same treatment the same way as the next person, and therefore by having a wide range of techniques, is able to treat the client with the appropriate amount of sensitivity. He also encourages clients to aid in their own recovery or therapy through stretching, hydrotherapy (ice/heat) and any other tidbits of personal experience that he can offer.

    Personal Interests:

    Michael enjoys hiking, kayaking, biking and yoga. He has been doing yoga for 15 years and has taken some preliminary courses so that he may one day become a yoga instructor. Michael also moonlights as a professional musician and is an award winning songwriter.

    Katie Hagen

    Educational Background:

    Katie has been licensed in Oregon since 2021 where she studied Eastern styles of massage. She graduated from the Western massage program with 640 hours.

    Professional Associations & Experience:

    Katie is certified and experienced in many modalities to help ease her clients out of pain. She has focused her practice on myofascial massage, lymphatic drainage, guasha, trigger point therapy and deep tissue. Using the Franklin Method of body imagery, she helps guide her clients to better movement and facilitates her clients own healing process. Katie has experience in working with many different athletes from the occasional runner to the bodybuilder. Her empathetic and kind demeanor helps those with chronic pain to manage their pain and improve their activity level.

    Personal Interests:

    Katie is a true Pacific Northwest girl. She loves being outdoors hiking, paddle boarding and going to the beautiful Oregon coast with her family and dog Riker. You can also find Katie at her favorite gym, Burn Bootcamp every day.

  • Tamera Sincera
    Tamera Sincera
    Massage Therapist

    Educational Background:

    Tamera has been licensed in Oregon and nationally certified since 2000, after completing a 750 hour program and graduating from East West College of the Healing Arts.

    Professional Associations & Experience:

    She is certified in a number of specialties; orthopedic, active isolated stretch and facilitated stretch to name just a few. She specializes in deep tissue, sports massage, and common injuries.

    Tamera is dedicated to listening to the client to better understand their specific bodywork needs and then working together to best resolve their problems.

    Personal Interests:

    Born and raised in the Portland area, Tamera is a musician, avid gardener and loves to spend time with her dog, Claudette.

    Educational Background:

    Ron graduated from the Oregon school of Massage in 2009. He studied Western massage styles, including Sports Massage, and graduated from the Eastern Massage program. He is also certified in Clinical and Orthopedic Massage.

    Professional Associations & Experience:

    Ron integrates a variety of techniques, including active and passive Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, IASTM, and Cupping in his practice. A variety of tools allows him to meet the individual needs of each client. He is passionate about helping people with acute and chronic injuries regain control of their lives.

    Personal Interests:

    In his spare time Ron enjoys building and playing a variety of musical instruments.

    Tishree  

    Educational Background:

    Tishree completed her 800 hours of formal training at East West College of the Healing Arts program in 2023. Focuses of schooling was on Swedish (relaxation), Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, Myofascial, Thai, and Craniosacral techniques.

    Professional Associations & Experience:

    Tishree's joy is to assist in connecting the client's mind with their body's miraculous abilities. With over 8 years of experience in bodywork in the medical field, while working closely with a chiropractor along with her formal training, she's developed confidence in touch, techniques, and communication with her clients. Naturally, she loves to mix relaxation with deep tissue massage, honing in on areas that hold tension to be released.In 1990 she moved from Canada to Beaverton, Oregon and ever since has called the Portland area 'home'. She has enjoyed traveling to places such as Ireland, Spain, and Mexico. However, her extensive trips to Thailand have developed her love of Thai massage.

    Personal Interests:

    All year round her hobbies are coffee roasting and vinyl record collecting. However, Pacific Northwest summers are her favorite; that's when she can spend her free time camping, paddle boarding, or kayaking, with her large bernedoodle, Mr.Bean.
